
Andy Horton

Andy is the Founder and Owner of Horton Voice Studio. Andy is from Spring, TX and graduated from The Woodlands High School where they were a member of the Madrigal Festival-winning Chamber choir, and a two-year member of the Texas All-State Mixed choir. Andy went to Baylor University where they started as a Music Education Major. After becoming a Vocal Performance Major, Andy performed in school operas including performing Arminda in Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera. While at Baylor, Andy performed across the United States and in France, including a Carnegie Hall performance with members of the New York Philharmonic. Andy received their Master’s degree in Vocal Performance from Louisiana State University where they performed roles such as Judy Shepard (Considering Matthew Shepard), Panì Pasková (Cunning Little Vixen), Jane Doe (Elizabeth Cree), and others. Andy also performed and worked regularly with Opera Louisiane, where they performed The Mother (Hansel and Gretel), and worked as a Stage Manager and Assistant for productions of Amahl and the Night Visitors and Cinderella. Andy completed administrative internships at Opera Louisiane and Des Moines Metro Opera and went on to serve as the Community Initiatives Coordinator at Houston Grand Opera (HGO). At HGO they worked with local Non-Profit organizations to create new operas and community-based programming. They continued this work through the pandemic, where they helped launch over 100 digital programs that reached over 70,000 people. One of Andy’s proudest achievements is commissioning, producing, performing the 2019 World-Premiere of Lucy Boyd, a one-act Opera by Mikeila McQuestion that continues to be performed. Throughout their undergraduate and graduate degrees, Andy maintained a successful voice studio.
